What you will learn at our workshop:

Researchers involved in clinical and translational research are increasingly mindful of the investments of time and resources required to design and execute their studies. Regardless of the objectives or techniques applied, the importance of ensuring sample integrity and quality from sample acquisition to final data analysis and delivery to customers or collaborators is a shared concern, particularly with complex, multiphase studies.

The Indiana University Genetics Biobank (IUGB) at the Indiana University School of Medicine is a high-throughput biobanking facility that supports numerous research programs. The IUGB currently banks DNA and various other biospecimens from over 30 active or closed studies, including biospecimens from over 68,000 subjects. Over 230,000 biospecimens have been shipped to more than 150 researchers. IUGB biospecimens have been used in more than 500 research publications to date. To ensure end-to-end sample and data integrity, the IUGB has implemented the Fluidigm SNP Trace™ assay to confirm sample identity in its DNA workflows.

In this workshop, Tae-Hwi Schwantes-An will describe the IUGB Fluidigm pipeline and discuss how the center has integrated DNA fingerprinting into its overarching workflow. David King, Vice President, Research and Development at Fluidigm, will conclude the discussion with information on advancements in sample identification offered by Fluidigm and other future developments.
